Located on a spacious 1700-hectare organic rooibos and buchu farm, Lylius is easily accessible via a short 5km gravel road from the N7 and suitable for normal cars. And you don't have to leave your dog behind! Our self-catering Farm Cottage and campsites are ideal for pet owners seeking a tranquil escape. Our farm welcomes well-behaved pets, offering ample open spaces and natural surroundings for your furry friend to take in.
THE FARM COTTAGE is a cosy self-catering farm stay with two-bedrooms - a queen-size bed in the main bedroom and two single beds in the second bedroom, with a shared bathroom. Unwind in the private wood-fired hot tub on the terrace and gaze up at the starry night sky. Stay warm with a small indoor fireplace during winter nights and cool with the air conditioning in the main bedroom during summer nights. Lylius Farm Cottage allows a maximum of four persons with a two-night minimum stay policy. Your dogs are welcome, with a maximum of two dogs allowed per booking. Savour fresh and pure spring water from Cederberg Mountain during your stay.
All guests also have access to the Communal Area with a swimming pool, fire pit, and picnic tables at the campsites.

On-site Pet-Friendly attractions
Explore 1700 hectares of organic farmland with your pet and enjoy activities such as hiking, rock climbing, mountain biking, trail running, bird watching, stargazing, swimming, kayaking, canoeing, and fishing at the farm dam. Experience tranquillity during the day and stargaze during the peaceful nights. Hike trails like Lookout, Buchu, Rock Art, and Nieuwoudt Pass while exploring other unmarked paths. Discover nature and species of birds at the farm dam. With a swimming pool and play area located at the Grassfield Campsites on the farm, enjoy the school holidays with your family. MTB enthusiasts are welcomed to bring their own bike and beat off-track circular routes of the wild fynbos kingdom.
Off-site Pet-Friendly attractions
There are a variety of off-site pet-friendly attractions for you and your furry friend to enjoy in the Clanwilliam area. Velskoendraai, a lovely farmstall, allows dogs at their outdoor seating area and offers delicious food and local products. Additionally, you can explore Clanwilliam Dam or Bulshoekdam. For a beach adventure, head to LamberstBay or Elandsbaai where dogs are welcome and you can even eat at the dog-friendly outdoor seating areas of places like Isabella or the Elandsbaai hotel. Unfortunately, the Cape Nature Reserves in the Cederberg are not pet-friendly and do not allow dogs.
PET POLICY
We want to let you know that our farm does not have a fenced-off area. That means our campsites are also not fenced off, so if you bring your furry pet friends, please make sure you keep them close to you at all times. We only allow dogs that are friendly and comfortable around people and children, especially during peak season and school holidays when our campground is bustling with kids. If your dog is nervous or uncomfortable around kids, we kindly ask that you leave them at home to avoid any incidents.
If you do bring your pets, they are welcome for free at our camp sites. However, if you choose to stay in our self-catering farm cottage, we ask for a pet fee of R100. This fee is not included in the booking and goes directly to our cleaning staff. It is a way of thanking them for their extra work after pets stay. You can pay this directly upon arrival or checkout with your wood. At the Farm cottage we only allow one dog (if large breed) as the cottage is quite small.
