The Barn at Merindol Manor in Riebeek West offers pet-friendly self-catering in the Swartland, ideal for a relaxing getaway on an owner-run property with historical charm and modern luxury. Dating back to the 18th century, Merindol Manor has a rich history, starting as a humble cottage and expanding into a grand Cape Dutch-style home. Today, it has been lovingly restored, offering guests a unique blend of historical charm and modern luxury. The Barn, separate from the main house and formerly used for horses, has been renovated into a beautifully spacious room with a private entrance and a small stoep overlooking the veggie patch.

The room features a queen-size bed, as well as a sleeper couch, comfortably accommodating up to two guests (and their furry children). The en-suite bathroom is fitted with a shower, bath, and complimentary amenities. The unit comes with an aircon, heater, microwave, basic crockery, fridge, and coffee and tea-making facilities. The property is situated within 5 km of the Riebeek Kasteel village square, where guests can enjoy pet-friendly restaurants, cafes, and most importantly, Swartland wines!

The property has a huge garden where dogs can play, but should be kept on lead if they prove to be difficult, please. We especially do not want them destroying the rose garden!

Riebeek West has a beautiful Garden Centre and coffee shop that is pet-friendly. Neighbouring town Riebeek Kasteel is incredibly dog-friendly. Recommended restaurants for dog owners are La Parilla and the Royal Hotel.

There are no breed restrictions, but we only allow well socialised dogs such as BomBom, our resident Golden Retriever, a cat and free roaming chickens live on site. Please clean up after your own dog and don’t allow dogs on furniture, in the pool or in the main Manor House.
